I decided I'll do a weekly music pick blogpost.. just to keep myself busy.
My tastes in music has taken a turn for the more mellow. I've been roaming though Myspace collecting music from very small indie bands to satisfy my thirst for new music. A few months ago, I came about Page France, thanks to You Aint No Picasso's recommendation and praise. Since then, I've been very hooked onto their style of slow, indie, and pop melodies. I came across The Broadway Hush, while browsing Page France's myspace page, and found a lovely new and fresh side project of PF. With two members of PF, Whitney McGraw and Michael Nau and a few others, they create great music for those moments when you're daydreaming or driving or walking through the bustling city.
Another sweet sounding female vocalist is Cat Power. I've been listening to a bootleg at La Cigale Paris, performed on Nov. 11, 2005. It's quite a clear sounding bootleg and you can have a listen to it at RBally. It's has jazzy melodies sort of like Norah Jones but with a wee bit of a southern touch.
Buy The Broadway Hush's 7" at Clerestory AV.
